The 2010 Washington State Reunion

M.C.B. 53 Alumni Association

July 12, 2007

MCB 53 Alumni, Spouses and Significant Others,

Here is what I have so far. It is going to take me a little time to locate a hotel that will accommodate us, but I am currently checking out a few hotels in Lynwood (10 miles north of Seattle) to see what kind of deal we can get. I also have the names for a couple of tour bus companies that we can use for transportation. These prices are ballpark, and hopefully, we can reduce some of them with group rates.

Tillicum Village
Short scenic cruse from Seattle's downtown water front to Tillicum Village on Blake Island State Park. Enjoy an Indian salmon bake while the Tillicum village dancers entertain you with the traditional N. W. Coast native dances in an explosive presentation. 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. $ 80.00 plus bus.

Seattle Harbor Cruise
Travel from Seattle's Lake Union into Lake Washington and enjoy the gorgeous views of Mount Rainier, the Space Needle, Husky Stadium, "Sleepless in Seattle" houseboat community and the luxurious water front home of Seattle's rich and famous. 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Price Pending.

Museum of Flight
Experience the history of flight in one of the worlds greatest air and space museums. Over 85 Air and spacecrafts such as Air force one, the Concorde, simulators and more. It is located at Boeing field, which has the original red barn that was used to build furniture. That was the beginning of the Boeing aircraft industry. $ 20.00 plus bus
.

Hotel Name is just 10 Miles North of Seattle. Hotel to be named shortly.

Spirit of Washington Dinner Train
Nostalgic rail cars, scenic views, visit the Columbia Winery for wine tasting, enjoy a delicious crusine, from prime rib & roasted salmon to vegetarian entries and delectable desserts. This 45 mile round trip is a remarkable adventure. 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Dome seating. $ 78.99 + tax and bus.

Whale Watching
Leave Everett's waterfront (20 miles north of Seattle) on the Island Explorer II. She is 65' long and 23' wide, featuring a large bow area and full walk around upper and lower deck with plenty of outside seating. Over 20,000 whales migrate from Baja Mexico to Alaska each year , some of them stopping to feed near Everett along the way. In addition to the gray Whales, you will often see harbor seals, sea lions, Dall's and harbor porpoise, as well as bald eagles and a wide variety of sea birds. $55.00 plus bus.

Modern and future aviation is what this tour is all about. Travel to Everett's Boeing plant to the largest building in the world. Once there, view a HD/HI-FI time lapsed video of the construction of a Boeing 777. Then witness the awesome scope of the assembly plant and mind boggling process of assembling several million parts of a jumbo jet. You will have a tour of the 747, 777, and the new 787 ( Dream Liner ) assembly line. $25.00 plus bus.

90 miles South of Seattle, this mountain sat dormant and peaceful, but on May 19, 1980, this slumbering volcano exploded to life, spewing a massive cloud of ash and steam more than 10 miles high and triggering the largest landslide in recorded history. Fallen trees, scattered like matchsticks, still cover the rolling hills within the blast zone and a moon-like terrain surrounds the mountain itself. 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. $86.00.

These are local attractions that we may be able to fit into some of the other tours or on their own. Once I meet with the tour bus companies, I will have a better feel. These are just a few of the options that we have. There is a lot more to do around the Island.

I'm also still working on Hotels. What I really want to do is have everyone stay at a Hotel in Lynwood.

Remember, these prices are 2007 prices. Hopefully they won't be much higher. If there is anything else I can do just let me know.
